I don't know if this any help at all but I have a couple of websites hosted with Compila for a number of years and the very few snags I've had have been sorted by their support very quickly. Their prices seem to be much less than what's being quoted in this forum, worth a look? - Compila hosting prices.

Give it up already, it's tedious. UKAR is a great forum but this 'we're elite' attitude is really off putting.

And what is wrong with striving to be the best and believing that you are so ? I dont think that makes you elitest, just proud of your hard work and effort.

I think UKAR is the number one aviation website and if I was responsible for its creation and upkeep I would have no problem stating that opinion

Trying to make a donation, coming up with the same problem with Paypal charging for P&P, and for some reason it won't accept my debit card number as an alternative form of payment. Also tried the non Paypal route but my email address is my Paypal address and it keeps going to paypal and wanting £1.50 for P&P?

Why not deduct the p&p fee from the amount you want to donate. End result the same !

Sorry about the P&P charge, but that's something that Paul needs to change in his Paypal account. I can't fix that.

Should do - probably works out a bit better because Paypal take a cut of any money donated AFAIK (not sure if it's the same for donations as it is for sending money and eBay fees etc, but they usually take about 3.5%), but not of the postage, so more of your money will end up with UKAR that way.

You'd have to ask Paul as he pays the bills, but it's a fair chunk. Once we can move and everything has been transferred, the overall cost should come down and the service should be better (from the hosts to us, and from us to you with regards to reduced downtime), so UKAR will be more sustainable.

A huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far - it'll make a huge difference and it's very humbling to see the support.

If anyone has sent money and hasn't had their little "UKAR Supporter" tag added, drop me a PM and I'll sort it.

I have joint UKAR relatively recently (about a year ago?) and don't post too often, but I enjoy this place very much and appreciate all the work you guys do to make this place tick. I also wish it would be able to operate smoothly so I have just donated, hope this will help.

I'd be more than happy to have a regular amount coming out every month rather than remembering to hit the Donate option each time I'm paid. Why not setup options - donate and monthly subscription for 1, 2, 5, 10 per month and let people choose which option they'd like to take up.

That way there is still no forced payment to use the site, no membership as such but it allows people to continue contributing on an ongoing basis to a site that's a regular stopping point during the day every day.

Also, have a word with Tim over at Nimbus Hosting regarding options - they host a lot of forum sites that use the software from the company I work for so are very aware of what's required and setup/tweak their servers accordingly.
