RIP Jon Lord

RIP Jon Lord

Postby MarkL on Mon 16 Jul 2012, 10:03 pm

Deep Purple were the foundation of my musical tastes when I first heard Made in Japan back in 1972/3

Jon Lord, a huge part of that sound died today.

Rock On Jon !!

Very sad news indeed, I saw Deep Purple several times.

One of music's all time greats, and to some extent unrecognised by a wider audience.

Despite being an aging rocker, this is one of my all time favourite pieces:

It was an honour to be there that night, when the whole Purple group illustrated their mastery of various styles of music but Jon in particular stood head and shoulders above all. A sad loss
