Jon Lord, a huge part of that sound died today.

Very sad news indeed, I saw Deep Purple several times.
"Smoke on the water, A fire in the sky"

One of music's all time greats, and to some extent unrecognised by a wider audience.

Despite being an aging rocker, this is one of my all time favourite pieces:



It was an honour to be there that night, when the whole Purple group illustrated their mastery of various styles of music but Jon in particular stood head and shoulders above all. A sad loss
