Beautiful shots Phil, love the spit upper surface shot (cracking!!) I love that shape, I look at the swifts flying above my house and think "If mitchell didn't get the spitfire wing shape from those birds, god nows where he did get it". great set of shots thanks for posting..Gary

Maybe during the time Mr Mitchell was in Germany getting treatment for cancer in the early 30s,his spitfire design was conceived.
During convalescence there he was convinced the Germans were getting ready for war and close to that time the Germans had designed a very
fast monoplane the Heinkel HE70.This aircraft broke many speed records and has the elliptical wing shape.Just a thought.. :hypno: :ninja:
