AirVenture 2012

Post by Anhedral »

Hi All

My first posting on this forum

Finally made it to Oshkosh this year as the perfect antidote to the UK's iffy weather this year. Hot sunny and 7 days of flying displays.
I'll still be processing the photo's I took well into next season!

Hope you like them

Looks like you were pretty far down to the right of the display line?

Love the Stearman shot, guessing that was John Mohr?

That was indeed John Mohr flying the stearman. Amazing display in a standard model aircraft.

Good god that Grumman (don't shoot me if I get the name wrong!) Goose looks good. HU-16 is it?

Yes it's a Grumman, but not a Goose it's HU-16 Albatross. And I do like the look of the FJ-4.

Some lovely photographs. Nice work Sir!

We were there Thursday-Saturday and sadly never saw the Fury fly. I didn't even know there was a Dauntless around! I take it the Hawk was on the East/West runway? Where abouts did you get the shot?

Some lovely aircraft at the show but I found most of the displays disappointing compared to say Duxford.
A great time, but definitely not aviation heaven.......

PS:The B17 trip more than made up for it!

The Fury finally flew on the final Sunday as part of the Naval Heritage flight, the Dauntless was around at the start of the week, I think it flew on Tuesday. The T-45 was one of the second pair to arrive on Thursday I think & landed on the N-S runway and was photographed from somewhere near the vintage parking area I think.

The Dauntless was at Fond du Lac (about 13 miles south of Wittman) on the Sunday (29th) giving joyrides together with the CAF Mustang 'Old Red Nose'. Looked like great fun, wish I could have afforded to take a trip, especially in the Mustang!

Really depends on your definition of aviation heaven.
