Fairford IAT 1994

Post by PorkScratching »

I've been busy scanning some of my favourite shots from 1994's IAT. All shot on Praktica MTL5 cameras with Kodak Gold 100 and 400 film:

Jags, MIGs, Buccs, Harriers, Bears......its the humble Comet that wins it, for me anyway.

Thanks for all the kind comments. It certainly did take a long time to scan them, and more so to edit them! Particularly removing dust spots etc. I remember being stunned by the Comet almost disappearing in clouds of spray while using reverse thrust - thankfully not enough to stop me pressing the shutter (and manually winding on the film between each shot!). Every IAT/RIAT is a classic, but this one was a bit special. Hard to believe it was 19 years ago

Couldn't Bruntingthorpe flood their runway on the next Cold War Jet day?? :clown:

Praktika MTL5 muscle maker ! The shutter took a tonne of pressure and sounded like thunder.
Nice shots

It did indeed on arrival, though I don't recall any lengthy runway closure delays as we've seen in later times...
A fabulous show no doubt with a really peculiar downpour on the Saturday?? morning IIRC. Quite miffed that I can't recall H.M.S. Comet's appearance though - that looks really spectacular and much more akin to it's Nimrod offspring.
