Bournemouth Air festival 2013
Bournemouth Air festival 2013
The dates this year are August 29th - September 1st
It will be interesting to see if they can pull anything special out of the bag this year as over the last few years it seems to have been a little repetitive.
Personally I'm hoping for the Sea vixen to be gracing the skies over Bournemouth again after having to cancel last year and the Tornado role demo would be a welcome sight over the bay again.
Also wonder if they could get some foreign participation this year to spice things up a little , the Dutch F16 display a couple of years ago went down a storm with the crowds.
Here's hoping for a good and varied turn out !

Does anybody know which royal navy ships will be moored in the bay this year except HMS Monmouth and HMS Northumberland?

Re: Bournemouth Air festival 2013
Fidlerde123 no doubt there will be one of the Bay class RFA's. and i think HMS Severn has been there for the last couple of years, of course last year there was a Type 42 but they have all gone i think, Would be nice for one of the new Daring class to turn up.

Does anyone know the progress with the DS Aviation Sea Vixen ? Will it fly this season?
Re: Bournemouth Air festival 2013
The Sea Vixen will be flying, and have had requests from Bournemouth, RIAT, RNAS Yeovilton, and Eastbourne. Hopefully it goes to all of them!

Where have you got this information from? Didn't know that it will defiantly be flying, On their Facebook page it says this " In response to your display questions:
We have a lot of requests, nothing confirmed yet. Bournemouth, RIAT, Yeovilton, Jersey, Eastbourne, these are all subject to the CAA allowing the permit."
Isnt it kind of obvious? otherwise, why would RIAT and other airshows be putting in requests? I've just sent them a facebook message, when I get a reply, I'll tell you.

Their force this year is led by the Type 23 frigates HMS NORTHUMBERLAND and HMS MONMOUTH with HMS BROCKLESBY HMS SMITER and HMS BLAZER. Supported by a boat group with landing craft, offshore raiding craft and an air group including a Black Cat lynx helicopter, a Merlin.
There will be amphibious demonstrations and members of the public can visit the ships.
Ashore the Navy village check out the light gun, Royal Marines weapon display dome and climbing wall, as well as Night Air performances from Royal Marines Commando Display Team and the Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines, HMS Collingwood.
AND for the first time the French Navy are sending their training ship L’Etoile to take part!
