Planes on sticks

Post by Martin the Martian »

Following on from tankbuster's Jordanian TF-104, I think we ought to take a look at a few more mounted aircraft. So let's take a look at 'em, chaps, from gate guards to garage decorations to garden attractions, so long as the wheels aren't on the ground. Maximum of three per post.

To set the ball rolling:

A Lightning in the car park at Castle Motors, on the A38 near Liskeard in Cornwall.

Thought this one might have had a bit more response although I have a feeling it may have been done before!

As requested 3.

Here are three I've come across on my travels. F-104 along the seafront at Izmir, Turkey, Folland Gnat from the Finnish air force Museum, Tampere and an F-86 spotted in a park in Valencia, Spain.

Some more. This time two from East Germany, both taken in 1993 of 1994.

The Yak-27R 'Mangrove' at the HQ of Werneuchen, the former home of the Foxbat. The Yak moved to a museum in France.
Image

Not really on a stick, but still an interesting monument. The gate guard at Templin/Gross Döln was this Su-7U 'Moujik'. It's now preserved in a museum in Neuenkirchen.
