Noted during a recent stop over in Dakar.

Slightly unusual and fairly rare.

This is a Mi-17. Nice catch.

Interesting that the heater KO-50 is missing.
Game over, man!

It's actually a Mil 17-2VA, not that I'm complaining! Nice catch and v-rare!

That's an odd type for Mi-17. 'VA' models are flying hospitals. I'm not sure what model is this (I think it's a 1V model) but I can say it was built at Kazan plant. At one point in its service life had the KO-50 heater and it doesn't look it has been fitted with medical equipment.

Going by Rotorspot - http://www.rotorspot.nl/current/6v-c.php

Although, says it's a Mil-1-V5 here - http://www.helicopter-database.de/open. ... photo=1577

Many thanks for the replies. I am not very hot on my Russian Helicopter ID's so finding out it is in fact an Mi-17 has helped me.

Regards,

Dinger.
