I assume it is the flypast with the Lancaster, as opposed to a full role demo? (see Waddington thread)

For anone that has not seen the Waddington thread:

Chris G wrote:In this months Aviation News it states that the BBMF Lancaster will be doing a flypast at Waddington, RIAT, Leuchars and Jersey with a pair of 617sq Tornado GR4's.

Is my first year at the Jersey show this year, any tips on where to go for photos?

Well its held at St Aubins Bay, which is the biggest bay on the island, a lovely setting for the air display with a magnificent castle as a backdrop.
If it's sunny, the sun is straight in front of you, which can be a pain for photography, but there is always the castle to view from. This usually incurs an admission charge to the castle, and access is only permitted to the castle before and after the show as the causeway, connecting the town to the castle becomes sterile during the air display. It's a fairly long walk to the castle but an ampibious vehicles operates a regular service. The views from the castle are significantly better and the sun isnt as much in your face. In addition you are closer to the aircraft as most use the castle as a turning point.

Hope this helps

Thanks a lot Bronco.

We've got a hotel in the bay so that should be good, will probably head over to the castle early on then as the photography is the important thing to me really and want the better light, is there much space for viewing over at the castle?

The Belgian Air Component F-16AM Fighting Falcon from 350 Squadron at Florennes will be displaying at this year's show. It however does not usually land on the island

Jersey 2014 date

Post by The Star of Woo »

I know it's early and probably a very daft question, but has the date for the 2014 airshow been fixed and/or announced yet please as our holiday dates for 2014 have to be submitted within the next week or so.

Thanks ever so much for that, was thinking it would be that date, looks like we'll just have to submit leave requests for then and keep our fingers crossed that it's correct.

According to the Canberra crew (XH134) at Riat, there is definitely talk about trying to make the Jersey Show in time.

I do hope so, as I will be there either way
