I rather cautiously made the journey to Hungary last weekend...not knowing what to expect from the airshow, the spotters package, and the country. The first relief came last Wednesday when it was reported the Russian Knights had arrived at the base. From there it all went rather well. The flight from London City via Frankfurt went well, and despite some language issues on the train I successfully arrived at Kecskemét on Thursday evening.
The hostel was basic, but for the price that was expected. The heat was intense...peaking at 38C during the day and not dropping below 20 at night. The airshow...well, what can I say...everything came together in to a 12 hour spectacular that on Saturday ended with the Russian knights flying their 5 Flankers into the setting sun.
It was great to meet so many friendly faces, especially Chris for putting up with me in the hostel! I apologise for the number of photos, but it was really that good! Will add Sunday and Monday's shots when they're edited....
Friday Arrivals: Spent the day at the wrong end of the base due to the variable light wind.

Saturday show: Arrived on base at 8:00 and set up camp on the spotter grandstand. 8 hours later I was forced into the shade as the heat was unbearable. Fortunately, after half an hour in the shade I had recovered enough to witness the best airshow moment I've ever seen. After numerous gaps and issues such as having to clean the runway after the Czech MI35 display, it was getting late....about 7PM. Huge rumbles reverberated around the airfield, and one by one the Russians began to taxi...there was a grin on my (and many other) faces for the next 25 minutes as the 5 SU27s danced through the sky. Absolutely superb.

Great set mate, really liking the look of the Sukhois with the twin chutes! That last shot of the Russian Knight is tasty too!

Superb head on shots of the Mig-21, Flanker and Frogfoot onto the taxiway. Nice to see some different views. Fitters look great as well.
Re: Kecskemét 2013 [Huge post]
Strangely enough these look quite similar to my shots, almost as if we were at the same place all the time good set fella, like the Frogfoot with the chute still flowing.. amongst many others

Absolutely stunning - great set
Re: Kecskemét 2013 [Huge post]
When you said 'huge post' you were not joking! Is that a Hungarian C-17?! Very good work!

Superb post and seriously jealous. I couldn't get there because of my business, so I just hope the turn out is the same or even better next year!
Is it a train right to Kecskemét airfield or is there buses/taxis etc involved too?
