Don't even bother with the online broadcast, it's just the radio stations bog standard show "dipping in to" the airshow now and then. Little Twitterinformation coming from the official tweeter as well.

Might head down to Southend Airport tomorrow and see if anything interesting comes in.

Reds are basing at Norwich I think.
Trig pair on now, and it's raining.

Bit of a washout today sadly, and the list wasn't all that special, Hopefully combined with better weather it will be a lot better. Was it me or did anyone notice the display axis was different this year?

Real shame they did not have BBC Essex doing the commentary this year, the commentary was virtually non-existent on the Dream 100 website with them only dipping into the show, something that they really need to look at next year, by selecting a broadcaster that only reaches the Tendring area anyone outside the area will not hear a thing... not there was anything much unless you wanted the bog standard studio show.
Anyone know what time the Vulcan is due?
Re: Clacton airshow 2013
2:30 with Reds to follow. I totally agree about the commentary, was really poor.

Believe I read somewhere that it was 14:30 (although that may have been made up by me but fairly sure I saw it somewhere).
Had rain/showers all day today apart from a 45 minute break before flying started, other than that fairly continuous really. In terms of what actually displayed:
Reds - actually did a full display, which was a surprise from looking at the weather that we had at the time.
Solo Spitfire - which seemed rather distant compared to everything else, even from the pier.
Solo Pitts - one of the most enjoyable solo Pitts displays that I have watched for a while.
Autogyro - was a much better display than when I last saw one of these, looked as if it looked be quite and different to watch from the display line ( was very close in) but was a bit too distant from us on the pier really.
Tucano
Trig Team
Air Ambulance - did one flypast, turn on crowd centre, bit of a bow then departed
Gerald Cooper in the XA41 to finish
Frequencies for anyone going tomorrow, display - 121.175, Clacton Airfield - 118.15

Who was the commentator? Couldn't hear it from down on the pier
Re: Clacton airshow 2013
I have a feeling bbc essex pulled out this year due to the budget cuts in bbc local radio at mo, they was not at tendring show too, dream radio can never do as good job,bbc essex had there 729am freq, only way dream100radio can do it prop is to get a temp fm radio freq in clacton and stream online for the 2days and that cost money.look like weather better friday

Commentary was non-existent online just a bog standard studio show popping to the show now and then more not.
Re: Clacton airshow 2013
Was a much better day than yesterday, but not really one for photography. Still was nice to see 'Ferocious Frankie' again and Alistair Kay put on a wonderful display in her, will last long in the memory. On a side note though, Please don't book the Vulcan again, it is clearly a huge drain on your resources and this clearly showed in the line up.

well the point of the show is to encourage people to visit Clacton, so I can understand less interest in broadcasting it round the region, but just suspect its that they bring more commercial sponsorship than the BBC could, had a similar thing with Lowestoft, the Dream100 equivalent, TheBeach covered the airshow in a similar style.
Re: Clacton airshow 2013
Could not disagree with Exiler more re the Vulcan. Certainly where we were siting it was clear that a large number were there just to see her. Despite the haze, the Vulcan was the best part of the show, and the howl was the best i've heard this year at any show.

Re: Clacton airshow 2013
The Vulcan was the only reason I took the day off work to attend and I was very glad I did (despite enjoying the rest of the acts).
Although the display itself was much the same as the rest of those this year - one of the passes was so close to us at crowd centre it was by far my favourite vulcan moment post restoration... Absolutely brilliant.
Clacton - if you're listening - great show, and the Vulcan was ace!

Re: Clacton airshow 2013
I'm sorry but the display acts excluding the Reds, BBMF and 'Ferocious Frankie' were pretty poor in comparison to previous years. The Vulcan has clearly had a significant impact upon the shows budget and will continue to do so in the future if it is booked. Clacton has had some really good acts in the past and 'Ferocious Frankie's' display reminded me of some of those previous Clacton shows. At the end of the day it is only my opinion so please don't loose sleep over it.
