My first time at Little Gransden and what a cracking good show it was!
By the time I arrived at about 11:00am, you would never have guessed how awful the weather had been the previous days. The ground was firm and generally dry, the clouds had lifted and there were generous amounts of sunshine. The only hint of the rains was a slightly "marshy" tang in the air...
It seemed the biggest problems were the organisers having to re-arrange schedules or fill empty slots, due to visiting aircraft who were experiencing bad weather elsewhere - or simply couldn't make it. Well done to the organisers for still managing a jam-packed show!
There were many highlights. Mark Jeffries' world-class Extra aerobatics... flipping inverted during take-off... O_o
The mighty Vulcan... 3 passes instead of the planned 2... a short display but because it was so low, close and loud... it was a lot more impressive than the longer-but-more-distant display I saw at Waddington earlier this year.
The RC scale-model Extra... incredible by itself, but flying a synchro aerobatics routine with a full-size Extra...!!! Amazing!
The Fox glider starting its routine while still being towed... O_o
Lots of beautiful planes - some familiar, some new to me... and the commentary team had me laughing out loud several times.
1. Vulcan low over the trees
2. Vulcan
3. The Swip team practicing their routine... on the ground
4. Fixing a camera to one of the Swips
5. Built by air cadets! This guy was shouting to the crowd as he flew by, clearly audible and very funny.
6. The Fox glider doing rolls at low-level... while still being towed!
7. Auster AOP
8. Lauren Richardson in her Pitts
9. Stearman
10. The Executives
11. Swip team
12. Waco UPF-7
13. Mustang "Janie"
14. Mustang "Janie"
15. Cessna Bird Dog and Auster AOP
16. Trig team
17. Anson
18. A bit of banter, after flying synchro with the RC scale-model Extra
19. Lancaster
20. The bowler...
21. ... and the batsman
22. Fennec
23. Miles Messenger
24. Yak
25. That Yak has an interesting passenger...
26. Spitfire
27. Spartan Executive
As always, all taken with my Panasonic FZ200, red-dot-sight fitted.
Thanks for looking, hope you enjoyed!

Hi
Number 1 does it for me - fantastic shot - love the way how the 'lower wing' is framed around the trees.
Great show yesterday

Yeah, it was a nice surprise! As far as I know, it was a last minute participant,to fill one of the gaps left by planes that couldn't make it on the day.sylvancatharsis wrote:That WACO is SWEET!
Thanks! I got a whole sequence of it dipping behind the trees - that was the one I liked the best.Afoster wrote:Number 1 does it for me - fantastic shot - love the way how the 'lower wing' is framed around the trees.

A really nice depiction of a show I didn't know much about. The Yak against the big sky is lovely. Thanks for posting.
