Little Gransden 2013 (non-DSLR) - updated

[Hatstand]

My first time at Little Gransden and what a cracking good show it was!

By the time I arrived at about 11:00am, you would never have guessed how awful the weather had been the previous days. The ground was firm and generally dry, the clouds had lifted and there were generous amounts of sunshine.The only hint of the rains was a slightly "marshy" tang in the air...

It seemed the biggest problems were the organisers having to re-arrange schedules or fill empty slots, due to visiting aircraft who were experiencing bad weather elsewhere - or simply couldn't make it. Well done to the organisers for still managing a jam-packed show!

There were many highlights. Mark Jeffries' world-class Extra aerobatics... flipping inverted during take-off... O_o
The mighty Vulcan... 3 passes instead of the planned 2... a short display but because it was so low, close and loud... it was a lot more impressive than the longer-but-more-distant display I saw at Waddington earlier this year.
The RC scale-model Extra... incredible by itself, but flying a synchro aerobatics routine with a full-size Extra...!!! Amazing!
The Fox glider starting its routine while still being towed... O_o
Lots of beautiful planes - some familiar, some new to me... and the commentary team had me laughing out loud several times.

Yeah, it was a nice surprise! As far as I know, it was a last minute participant,to fill one of the gaps left by planes that couldn't make it on the day.

Number 1 does it for me - fantastic shot - love the way how the 'lower wing' is framed around the trees.
