Rainbow, vapour and flares over Ostrava 2013. Final update!

Post by sfw »

This year's show as part of NATO Days in Ostrava was perhaps not very attractive from the equipment point of view but it certainly was spectacular. Here a few of my pictures from the event.

Absolutely stunning set from start to finish but I am also curious as to what the process is from start to finish both in camera and post processing. Maybe an article, for UKAR to run, would be good for the rest of us to learn something? Top set anyway

First of all my english is not good enought to write an article. Secondly, I'm realy bad teacher :( . But to make a long story short ... I think about a final effect before I press a shutter button. So, over or under exposition, what will be better for this particular weather conditions and subject I'm framing. For a bad weather conditions most of the time I overexpos my photos, because my goal is to have some details of airframes and vapours the same time. Canon sensors are better for recovering information from highlights then from shadows so it is better to burn a picture a bit, instead of let the camera metering system do the job alone.

Flipping amazing set. How do you get your 'jelly air'/heat haze so detailed/well captured?

Gripen shots are just stunning! I'm guessing the 500mm and 1.4 TC were in overwhelming use?
