Zonking colour scheme, but am I alone in thinking that something red and Italian with a prancing horse on it spells "Ferrari"?

It was painted to celebrate Ducati's new 999 superbike.
Re: "Ducati" F-104S at Grazzanise.
The paint was supplied by Ducati. The prancing horse was Francesco Baraccas' (1st world war Italian fighter ace,) personal motif that was later adopted by Ferrari.
The CO mentioned that painting the radome made the radar unusable as operating it would result in microwaves reflecting internally and "fry his family jewels".

Fascinating. Thank you very much for the lessons!
From my days in the Tornado project office I remember that radomes had to be coloured during the manufacturing process, which tended to leave things like the TFR and the Skyshadow emitter radomes unable to match sudden changes of scheme like desert pink.

Very nice Mike. Do you also have some normal grey examples from your visit to update this topic with?

Looks like it should be taking part in Reno, not retiring!
Love all the photos but 1# & 4# stand out to me.
