Evening All
Hard to believe as we end 2013 that its almost a decade since I was fortunate enough to join VX-9 in Key West, Florida for what was to be the last Detachment by the unit with the F-14 Tomcat.
The jets deployed from Point Mugu in March 2004 and they included 'Vandy One' and a VX-30 'Dogs' marked aircraft. Whilst in Key West we were also joined by several aircraft from VF-213 'Black Lions'.
I'll finish with another' Vandy One' shot this time from an earlier mission flown with VX-9/VX-30 at their home base Point Mugu.
Cheers
Ferg

Same here don't know I missed this post. 'Vandy 1' looking stunning & the head-on's are superb, looks like great access...?
Re: VX-9 'The Vampires'
Stunning. Like many, many others for me the F-14 will always be the best looking aircraft ever. Thanks for posting

Re: VX-9 'The Vampires'
Just found this thread as well.
The F14 is, to me anyway, one of those few machines that seems to suit whatever markings it wore. Would have loved to have seen a High Viz 'Sundowner' or 'Jolly Roger'. Hard to pick a favourite out of these shots but in pic 5, the Tomcat looks quite sinister. Thanks for sharing.
