Giant Warplane Collection - Magazine
Giant Warplane Collection - Magazine
Has anyone seen this? http://giantwarplanecollection.com/ I've just seen an advert for it, seeing a price of £1.99, but looked on the website to see thats only issue 1, issue 2 being £3.99 and all the rest being £7.99, personally, I think that's a bit naughty! But it still looks like a nice collection. Might take a bit out of my pocket money to get some!

Re: Giant Warplane Collection - Magazine
They always start the magazine collections with them prices I normally just buy the first one or two. I brought the magazine on Wednesday, the Lancaster is a BI coded YZ-J from 617 Squadron RAF in 1945.
The stand for it is a lot better than an old similar collection where I got a IFOR Sea King from, the model is good and light compared to a similar Corgi version and has the undercarriage down which is different.
Issue 1: Avro Lancaster
Issue 2: Junkers Ju290
Issue 3: Avro Vulcan
Issue 4: Boeing B-17
Issue 5: BV 222
Their is a similar collection for Military vehicles as well, with a nice MCV-80 Warrior in the second issue.

The Lancaster doesn't look great, but I'm up for the Vulcan... Possibly the B-52, if they do an issue with one of them in...

I bought volume 1 and the Lancaster isnt that bad, what do you expect for £1.99!
I would rather have had a Lanc with all the gun turrets, but this model had to carry a 'grand slam'!

You could be right, yet I'd have no idea. Just had a look at some of the models on the online shop, they don't look great, some look nice, E-3D doesn't look great at all! May get 3 at the most, won't spend too much money on them! The Lancaster looks like a re-issue of a similar partwork around ten years ago - which I was bought as a gift. That was by Atlas Collections (I think?) and was the bomber aircraft of WWII. The B-29 and Lanc were decent enough, but the rest were poor - B-17, Mosquito and Condor in particular.

The Vulcans ok but the front wheel assembly is in the wrong place. Just buying the Lancaster to add to my 1/144 collection of differenet marks of lancasters i am going to collect. Will get the Vulcan to strip and repaint into another vulcan, thinking XM603.
Life's a piece of S*** if you look at it!
Re: Giant Warplane Collection - Magazine
Purchased the Lancaster issue - will have a read of it tonight then decide if im going to get the rest of them. The model seems ok at the end of the day your not going to get alot for that price.

Where did you bring it from?

WHSmith but I know some Tesco Extra superstores sell them as well but I don't think normal Tesco superstores do because I've been in two since and not one had any.

Free binder with part one!
Re: Giant Warplane Collection - Magazine
Regarding the military vehicle collection which they've just started again; I started that collection in 2009. It finished 2 months ago after being combined with the Panzer collection! The PC models are very good, the MVC ones not so much. The early ones had build quality issues but improved as the collection went on.

Hence why i don't indulge in the rip off part-works

Bargain.
