I thought I knew every F4 scheme - the "grey goose" with the grey cobra tail marking is new to me.
Wonderful memories.

A lovely thread and a joy to view the photos.
Don't bother running, you'll only die tired!!

A lovely selection, I must have been stood next to you on a few of these shots... The Phantom looked so much better in the camo.

Was not a fan of the two all blue specials - looked like they were painted with a stick especially compared to the finish on Black Mike.
Those camo ones look superb, particularly like the shot at KB. Great post.

Being away from the front line I expect the Tremblers had more time to lavish on polishing their aircraft whereas the RAFG squadrons were much busier dealing with the Warsaw Pact to spend time on such things.

I'm not going to get into the ins and outs of squadron politics and time, but 5 of the 8 Germany Tornado units managed to create very professional anniversary jets a year earlier, whilst worrying about the Warsaw Pact. The Phantoms were in effect disbandment schemes and painted after the wall had come down, in fact they made the UK show debuts at the same time as the Czechoslovak Air Force arrived for the first time en masse at Fairford.

I have some air to air shots of 92 Squadron F-4s. A couple I bought from Peter Foster, the others came from Nav mates on 92.

And whilst we're on the subject- what has blue got to do with 92?!?! Yes those silly Dolphins but not the mighty Cobras!
Ooh that A2A of camo "W", even if it has been trembled, absolutely gorgeous.....

Blue Diamonds and the F2/F2A Lightnings before the camo green came ring any bells? The Cod Squad don't count.
