Twin Engined GB-Airfix Canberra PR.9 1:48 FINISHED 21/5/14

Post by Craig »

Unbelievably, I've started another! The Typhoon is still progressing, but I can't go much further until the Eduard detail set arrives in the post, so with work on that slowing I've broken out the Airfix Canberra to be finished as the retirement jet. I do love that tail art! Not got all that far yet, only sprayed the cockpit, but pics to follow in due course. The detail looks impressive, the fit of the wings to fuselage looks like it may require a little filler but this does look an excellent little kit.

Sorry guys, I've been really rubbish with this, not got round to taking many photos as I've been so engrossed in building it! I forced myself to take some today or else I might as well not bother! :hide: Anyway, here she is pre shaded and ready for her top coat. Decals have now arrived, and the Light Aircraft Grey has been applied to the underside. So far so good! C&C, as ever, very welcome  I'll try and force myself to take some of the undersides tomorrow before I mask her up! :dizzy:

I'll post another pictorial update on this one tonight, but another setback  The Model Alliance sheet only has four roundels, and the Canberra had roundels on both sides of the wings, not just the left. So that's another tenner for another sheet for the missing roundels, and another two week wait for them to arrive  Suppose can plough on with everything else in the interim...

That's not good, you would think that all the scheme decals would be included in one set.

Too right mate, at nearly £10 for this one scheme it wouldn't seem a big ask. This is made even worse by the fact Hannants have a £20 min order for overseas, so going to get stung yet again

Oh well.

Pics as promised! Paint is now done and the first decals went on tonight

Well, miracle of miracles I've actually completed something within the GB timescale! If you're looking for the perfect Canberra this 'aint it, but got to say I am overall pretty pleased with how it's turned out. Still a few lessons to be learned for when I get back to the Typhoon, hopefully soon! This was only supposed to take a couple of weeks, it's ended up being over a month! anyway, on with the pics, and C&C as always is very welcome

Looks superb Craig   Just a shame that the lighting does not bring out the best in the colour in my opinion.

Thanks mate

Yes you're right, they were taken under artificial light which isn't ideal. I'll try and take some in natural light, but I need the weather to be up to it first! :tumbleweed: :surrender:
