Special Schemes GB - Canberra PR9 Retirement Scheme.

Post by ArabJazzie »

Hi all,
I was considering a no show on this GB as i couldnt decide what i wanted to make. However, i was formulating a plan for the last 5 months of the year so i could give myself half a chance of completing the 52 build. I then remembered i wanted to build a Canberra PR9 for a previous GB which i had special marks for.

So here is the box for the Airfix 1/72 Canberra PR9

Sorry about the pics though but that might be how things have to be from now as i have to get rid of the big table to make way for a new sofa or 2!

Apart from that, the Canberra has progressed so well, it will have its wings fitted tomorrow and i might be able to paint it sometime this week! There is a que though!

What for? The usual rush the build through and make plenty mistakes along the way!!!

What dya think this time?

Been a bit busy of late and only been able to build rather than keep a thread updated. The build was easy with not much filler required. Underside paint by Humbrol, topside by Xtracrylix and tail by Tamiya!

Working 7 out of 14 next fortnight instead of 12 like last fortnight!

Hello again all,
Things fell a bit by the wayside on this one while i made a dent in the built kits i had for the 52 challenge. Of course this one is ultimately part of that and then came its time for a final push. The decals from Model Alliance were a delight to work with, but the Airfix ones required for the stencils didnt always play ball! Only lost 2 of them in the end and poorly recovered another! :wall: And the carpet monster stole a wingtip light that i will have to look for a way to correct that!

Anyway, im am calling this finished so here she is.

Damn! I hate that carpet monster..... Ours has eaten a whole kit by now. Each time I lose a part and then vacuum up the area, I'm always going through the canister to find no parts! :ghost: All and all though, this has to be one of your best builds yet. Maybe contact Airfix and see if they can send some spare clear parts later on?

Only thing is, we have laminate flooring!

I was looking at the pics as well and thinking, something else is missing! :ghost: Then i realized the probe on the nose has gone the way of the floor as well! With the wingtip though, im gonna try and shape and polish a bit of spare sprue just to add another skill to the locker.

Thanks for all the comments guys!

That looks pretty good, I think the decals set it off just nicely. One thing if I may though, not sure if you have but the intake bullets & inside intakes should be silver.
