Hi,

Last week witnessed the 'End of an Era' for the Greek A-7 Corsair II. Congratulations to the Hellenic Air Force for putting on this free event with what can only be thought of as superb access on both Thursday and Friday. Yet another airframe which will be missed in the skies!

Thanks to Jon and the other peeps from the UK/Europe for the friendly banter - great days!

Have to admit though the B & W shots at the start look spooky and haunting but beautifully framed

Excellent set! It was a great day, still working through my photos . #15 is the shot I really wanted but missed because some HAF personnel decided to sit in front of my lens

Question about #20, how do you bring out the exhaust heat waves so nicely?

To bring out the vapour I tweaked the levels in Photoshop to make it more punchy, while masking the aircraft itself.

An absolutely terrific photos and thanks for sharing so many of them. It looks like a really good event. The first shot of the A7 graveyard reminded me of the Ian Allan trip from last November to the HAF open days where we were denied permission to shoot retired aircraft on poles let alone a collection like that. Any shots that might have buildings in the background or flight lines of Buckeyes or C130s brought the disapproval of chaps in dark glasses, jeans and trainers clutching radios. The only Greek I picked up on that trip was "No photos, NO PHOTOS!". Still a great trip though with mostly wonderful weather and, in the main, very friendly air and ground crew.

Gorgeous photography here, lovely pictures. Looks like a great event. Seeing the "Air Tattoo '14" on the special scheme one really makes me appreciate how lucky we were to have those two here in July.
