Last pax flight of last Monarch B757

Post by Draken »

Hi All,
Yesterday, 12-11-2014, took place the last commercial flight of last Monarch B757: G-MONK performed night flight on route KRK-LTN taking about 220 passengers back to UK. Today - 13.11 - MONK made his last flight as ferry jump LTN-BHX to go through final check and probably he will fly for Icelandair in the future.
As EPKK Spotters group we were invited by airport authorities to document this sad (for us, and for sure for the crew) moment.
The crew was very friendly and kind, but we have clearly seen they were a bit depressed... Fortunately our presence on board and the enthusiasm made their evening a bit better ;)
Here is my photo report of the last flight preparations and departure to Luton.

Very nice pictures! It is a great shame we are seeing less and less of these great aircraft flying around! The power to weight is still way up there compared to other airliners I believe!
keep flying

As anyone who has seen the RNZAF 757 doing its display will testify.

Some lovely shots there.

Hi. These are brilliant photos of MY wonderful G-MONK
I would love to purchase them but also want to know much more about this night were they taken at KRK and what the crew said about her and if the passengers knew it was her last revenue flight.
I have spent many years following MONK and am desperately sad that she has been WFU by Monarch
It seems her future is part out for Icelandair not as a flyer so these photos are a wonderful record but also very poignant.
Please please get in touch
Thank you
