Hey Rich, you keep posting these odd gems off the scanner.
Just had a look through some of your older posts (hadn't seem them all before), love the shots from Bodo and the Wessex retirement as well as the Stateside choppers of course.

Evening

Co-incidentally I came across another Pukin' Dogs shot today - this time nearer to home - shot in June 1999.

Very nice shots. The second one over the keys at Yeovilton was surely 1994?? (D_Day event) I was a guest of VF-143 on the Friday (nice weather mainly) & spent the day touring the airfield to photograph all the visiting aircraft at dispersals. It was 'open-season' as I was given a 'Pukin Dogs' cranial helmet to wear live-side for the practise day.
Only other USN influx was to VL Air-show in 1996 , I think?

Great shots. Anyone know the original of the expression 'Pukin' Dogs'?

According to Wikipedia - The squadron adopted its current insignia in 1953, a winged black lion (or a mythical Griffin) on a blue shield. The distinctive squadron name "Pukin' Dogs" came about when the squadron commander's wife saw the creature’s droopy head and gaping mouth design. She stated, in front of the squadron pilots, that it looked like a "pukin' dog." The pilots loved that, and the name stuck. In the politically correct aftermath of the Tailhook scandal in 1991, the squadron was forced to officially rename itself the "Dogs". This official banishment was widely ignored until Admiral John Mazach, Commander, Naval Air Force U.S. Atlantic Fleet, rescinded the policy in a 1996 speech to the squadron.

Remember those F14s at Yeovilton well, quite a few star items around for those D Day celebrations.

Thanks. Now you mention it, that sort of does ring a bell.
