After several weeks of hiding in the ex Sea Vixen the resident P-51D Mustang, once a member of the Swedish Historic Flight, departed on her first flight of 2015 to Duxford. She had been sat outside the hangar for a number of days, but the cobwebs were finally blown off as her Packard Merlin thrummed into life, plus added smoke.
Immediately after departure she was turned back over the airport and conducted 2 high speed orbits, the charismatic whistle of air rushing over the gun ports filling the cold, crisp air.
Also visiting the airport, one which has been sat for a couple of weeks outside Airtime Maintenance, is this immaculate Dove 8 owned by Columba Aviation. Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Nice to see the Dove, I recognise that from visits to Blackbushe in the dim and distant.

Re: Mustang Magic plus extras
Thanks for the comments chaps, being part of the airport does allow news of special movements being provided with prior warning which always helps!
With regards to the pilot unfortunately I wasn't able to catch the pilots name. Furthermore, the planned flight was meant to take it onto Duxford, but not sure whether it actually make it or went into a different airfield.

Nicely shot! I have to say, I've never been too keen on RAF marked Mustangs, but having seen more photos of this example, I've rather come round!
Looks like the man and legend Lars Ness at the helm and Sharky sure made it to Duxford alright.

I'm assuming that's Bournemouth Airport?

Thank you!
There seems to be some sort of largish prop aircraft that I hear flying out of Bournemouth each evening around 20.00. I've no idea what it is however?
