The Constant Phoenix arrives

Post by BenLuck »

Hello all,

I visited the hall this morning to catch this classic yet very rare jet. There were some serious winds when it was on final approach as "Cobra 67" which resulted in a go around to the delight of the photographers. She landed successfully on the second attempt

Nice shots, this aircraft, a then WC-135B, was based at Mildenhall with the 10ACCS as a crew trainer to keeps hours proficiency instead of using the more valuable EC-135H fleet at the time. Funny 25 years later this one is still going long after the others are dead.

Cheers, I find it amazing that this jet is still flying today with its old engines and the fact that it used to be based here

There are two OC-135B's, a fleet of E-3A's and a NC-135 in the fleet which are all fitted with the classic TF33's

The E-3s (Bs and Cs) are 707s though and not C-135s, but do have TF33s. The NC-135W is the Rivet Joint test aircraft

I was basing my last post around the engines not the aircraft type
