Doesn't matter - I hear there will be a slight breath of wind on Sunday so it won't turn up...

Had the engine run not thrown up a little problem, the Nimrod would have flown this afternoon and there is an 18Knt wind blowing down the runway. Hardly a 'slight breath of wind' that as I found out from the cross winds hitting my motorbike on the way home.

According to the Collection website there should also be a Rapide from Air Atlantique offering pleasure flights on Sunday for £80 weather permitting.

Having only visited Old Warden once, how optimistic are more familiar visitors feeling about tomorrow's weather?

Just debating buying tickets, around a 2 hour drive each way for me.

Rain isn't going to be the problem tomorrow, there will be some flying but it's the 30+mph gusts of wind that are forecast and which direction they are blowing from that will stop the early stuff flying. I only live 30 miles away and I've decided I'm not going.

Typical Bank Holiday weather really.

It's bad enough attending a show when the weather threatens to misbehave, but it's ten times worse if you don't go and the weather man's got it it wrong again (as they invariably do) And you've wasted your Sunday afternoon sprawled on the sofa picking your nose and watching.... songs of praise?
Get out there guys, life is not a rehearsal!

That is true, but if I spend the money coming down for Old Warden, then I don't go to Duxford in a couple of weeks time. Just trying to make the best choice.

Forecast on BBC website is showing some brightness in the afternoon, but still breezy. I'm glad I only live 8 minutes drive away, I'll have a look out of the window about 13.45 and see is if it's worth going!

Can you look out the window at about 11 and tell me if it's worth going please?

I'd echo that, but maybe a little earlier in the day!!

Still going anyway, not been to Shuttleworth for about 20 years, so will be good to have a look round the hangars etc beforehand, and if nothing flies then so be it...

It's 7.10am and I'm 4 miles from Old Warden and the weather at present is awful. Very cold and it's still raining and has been for a number of hours.

According to the latest forecast, that weather front should have moved away by late morning / lunchtime with a drier and warmer afternoon.
I think I'm going to take the gamble and go. I mean, what's the worst that could happen? (Excluding getting cold, wet and having no flying)

Is the catalina meant to be displaying? According the souvenir programme it's down but the website didn't mention it? Anyone no?

I believe it is displaying; Abingdon's flying programme has it departing Abingdon for Old Warden at 1612 followed by a return to Abingdon for its other scheduled display at 1710.

Stopped raining in Sandy at present, and the skies are looking brighter. Well, a different shade of grey!
