Damn. I should have gone...
Re: Season Premiere Airshow (commemorating VE day) - 3rd May
Only problem was that it threw it down with rain for its entire display...

The Nimrod made it! Forth times a charm? Just a shame the weather didn't play ball for its display.
Re: Season Premiere Airshow (commemorating VE day) - 3rd May
Was a very good show, shame the weather didn't play ball completely, but still very good!
Re: Season Premiere Airshow (commemorating VE day) - 3rd May
It was a brilliant show with great flying, weather was fine for most of the time, and I'm glad I went to this show it was great!

That pass felt about 10 feet on the fence at the "elbow"!
But what a great show that was. Once again the Shuttleworth guys pull it out of the bag. Would be interesting to know, had the weather been perfect, would we have seen the Comet given that it wasn't originally intended? I'm going to consider that our reward for keeping the faith (have to admit I was nervous of a cancellation on the drive down there!)
Highlights for me obviously Comet, Hawker Trio and Anson/Spartan formation. But actually what was great was seeing some of these aircraft as solo acts when often they appear as part of a group or sequence. Today each aircraft had it's own focus which, as a keen videographer (yes it's a thing), was great

Great show so glad i made it lots of highlights John Romain in the Buchon, and that very spirited display by Brian Smith in the Nimrod! That final pass was something else. I was very suprised that the Comet flew but very happy that i have got to see her fly for the first time what a beauty
A great way to kick off the season glad i ventured up for it.

What were crowd numbers like?
Re: Season Premiere Airshow (commemorating VE day) - 3rd May
Crowd numbers pretty good. Parking next to the playpark was full.
My highlights - Late mark 109. Worth entrance fee on its own, Nimrod last pass, Jumpin Jaques and the Comet. Well worth the last minute decision to go. I also sense a bit more determination to make things happen this year, so while the Met office long term forecast should forget their super computers and look at the Shuttleworth calendar for when it will rain in the Summer, yesterday was great despite the rain.

A grand day out, despite the inevitable cancellations and afternoon showers, when it wasn't raining the light conditions were brill especially when Peter Teichman was throwing his P-51 around. I got some great shots yesterday, I think we were luckier than folks at the other place

A very good show, and it seems that we were lucky enough with the weather.
Rouchcutter's approach seemed bang on - Pay your monies, and take your chances indeed!
Additionally - Anyone notice Peter Teichman was wearing the Dutch F-16 Solo Display patch? Perhaps he wants to upgrade from his warbirds to something a little louder and pointier.
I guess with no Dutch F-16 display this year, someone's got to wear it!
