Seafire XVII SX336 Air to Air

Post by Alpha Delta 210 »

Hi

I was fortunate enough to accompany this beauty as she made her way from North Weald to RAF Fairford for RIAT on Thursday 16th.

Unfortunately, the weather didn't play ball, but I hope you enjoy these few shots:

Hi

I was just revisiting my Seafire images and out of the hundreds of very similar images, I decided that this one was probably my favourite!

Hi Rich

Thanks for your kind words. I'm pleased you liked the images. I wanted to have some keepers, so started off at 1/250 in Shutter Priority and as I became more confident (and comfortable with the turbulence!), I reduced the shutter speed incrementally until I got to 1/60 with VR turned on. The final image above was taken at 1/60 on my D610 at 100mm on a Nikon AF-S 24-120mm f/4G.

Thanks again.

Last one is a gem. An aircraft in its element, up above the clouds. Was this a Neil Cave production?

Thanks King Cobra. I agree that the last shot is the best, I don't know how I missed it first time around!

(I don't know Neil Cave.)

Ok. I asked as he invited me on an A2A shoot with SX336 (couldn't make it) and I wondered if these shots were from his gig.

I see. This was coordinated by a Dutch acquaintance.

Hi Kev

I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

It was only towards the end of the flight that I had the confidence to crank it down to 1/60s!
