41 Squadron Anniversary Scheme

Post by stevejb »

The 41 Squadron 100th anniversary scheme was formally unveiled at Coningsby today on ZK315, (albeit only a year early). Six squadron jets, two Tornados and four Typhoons departed en masse, returning later when these shots were taken.

Great pics, nice scheme, shame the Phantom is missed on the tail.

True but they only operated it for 4 years or so, does it warrant a place?? :dunno:

Lovely scheme, looking forward to seeing that! 41 have turned out some good jets over the years..

Don't forget the Harrier!

Lovely looking special scheme, simple and clear - really does look the part. Well done on this one RAF.

On the aircraft:
Vickers FB5
Hawker Demon
Supermarine Spitfire
Gloster Meteor
SEPECAT Jaguar
PANAVIA Tornado
Eurofighter Typhoon

Missing:
Airco DH2
RAF FE8
RAF SE5A
Supermarine(?) Siskin
Hawker Fury
Hawker Hunter
Gloster Javelin
McDD Phantom
BAE Harrier

The Phantom and Harrier really pale in to insignificance in the squadron's history compared to other types...

Armstrong Whitworth made the Siskin...

Good point! From Twitter the canards have "seek" and "destroy" (squadron motto) on them. They look a bit naff TBH..

I thought the canards looked a bit plain as well, the tail looks fantastic though
