Sunny Shuttleworth Pageant

Originally looking to go to Cosby on Sunday but the Vulcan cancellation knocked the stuffing out of that idea. Alas, probably the wrong decision looking at the photos that have emerged on here.

Wasn't sold on the list for Old Warden, but the fine weather was the deal breaker. Shame that so much good stuff was parked way up at the top end of the field, so never did get to see the P-40 up close, and the Comet cancellation was a blow too - really hoped to catch that in similar sort of weather to the Pageant last year that I was unable to attend.

Again, not all that impressed with what I came home with. Just seem to have an awful lot of shots lately that are blurry, either though soft focus or bad panning (which I'm sure I never used to be so bad at!), but with a 100-400 L I'd expect there to be a much higher keeper rate than I can muster. It seems no better than my 70-300 really.

Nothing too shabby there Dan, Sea Hurricane looks great , how were the Demon and Hind as they're normally stars round the bend?

As lovely as the collection is however, nothing I'd have swapped there for what was on offer at Cosby on Sunday even without the Vulcan.

Hind wasn't up for long - landed back with a problem. Some nice passes from the Demon, but I find the biplane topsides difficult to shoot tbh - I'm not keen on shots of warbirds that obscure the pilot from view behind a wing, and that's especially difficult with a biplane. I'll have a look through and see what I can post of that pair.

I agree with you though about Cosby - as enjoyable as it was at Shuttleworth, I was kicking myself when I saw the photos from Cosby. This was my third visit to Old Warden this year, and I've purchased tickets to see the Vulcan finale too. Perhaps there's a danger of wearing it out.

I've used Old Warden sparingly this season, once inside, and once out. I may have to get tickets for October, but I'm not overly fussed if I miss out!

Very nice selection of shots.

Most of panning shots you've shown here are sharper than mine at similar shutter speeds - I really struggle with panning.

Kinda caught in two minds when taking that one and ended up with neither a close-up nor a full shot of the airframe so had to crop in a bit - just about the sharpest photo of the day though, so doesn't show too much.

Been through them again this week - nothing much of the Hind or Demon.
