A little visit to Redhill

Post by TH1213 »

Hi all,

Been a while since I posted any images, usually from Battersea. However this week I took two trips down to Redhill in hope of getting Specialist Aviation Services G-SASR in its new green colour scheme in some night light. Luckily persistence paid off and I managed the shot I wanted on the second trip as it departed back to Gloucestershire after some dreadful weather the first time around. Few other bits thrown in, particularly nice to see NPAS Redhill's EC135 for the first time as on my last visit they was still using the MD902.

Only posting some of the shots, few more on my Flickr if anyone is interested.

Hope you enjoy!

Thomas

Terrific shots in some excellent winter light.

Seen G-WCKD a few times at North Weald earlier this year operating pleasure flights.

Is the cafe rebuilt since the fire? I heard they were using a temp portacabin.

I visited the Pilots Hub Cafe, I'm not sure about the condition of the other one.

Really nice photos !! Very interesting !

Is the G-SASR used as a medical or police helicopter ?
Are the EC135 Police, MD902 Kent ambulance and G-SASR based at Redhill ?

Thank you!

G-KSSA is one of the two Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance aircraft, this aircraft had been away having maintenance done at Specialist Aviation Services. G-SASR is one of Specialist Aviation Services spare aircraft used when the one of their contracted aircraft goes offline for whatever reason. In this case it was used while KSSA was away for the week (essentially like a courtesy car).

The EC135 belongs to NPAS Redhill based at Redhill. (obviously  )

Hope that helps Stephane.

G-SASR was the former Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance (G-LNAA) and was re registered recently after a spell as one of the feed in Cornwall air ambulance cabs. Now as stated returned as a company spare for fill in work whilst other SAS MD902's are on maintenance

Thank you for explanations

The helipads are easily visible from outside ? So, is it easy to take pictures for helicopter movements ?

Thanks

Apart from the Police aircraft shot which I got permission to enter the flightline, all the shots are taken from the cafe. The aircraft either hover taxi to another runway or take off/land on the runway in front of the cafe.
