I wonder if that's the French Harvard that has been modified to vaguely resemble a Zero?
Re: American Air Show 28-29 May
Maybe should be named American Airshow up to ..... date
Re: American Air Show 28-29 May
Decent line up, no sign of contemporary jet aircraft menitoned in Decembers press release though.

It also mentions that the flying display will start at 13:30.
Re: American Air Show 28-29 May
Decent line up, tickets booked! Just noticed that, perhaps hints at a few more acts than usual?
Edit: Just noticed that the initial participation list last year wasn't released until the 15th April!

Think its probably F-AZRO. I assume its a 'new rebuild' and not ex Tora Tora Tora?

Well I think they need an Osprey demo, A KC-135 and F-15 flypast and probably an Osprey and Pavehawk on static before it can be called the American Airshow, because as it stands its just a fairly standard run of the mill line up. with less than half of what is flying American.

Of the 25 acts shown 15 of them are American. So that's less than half then.
Still 3 months to go and plenty time for more to be added.

Depends how you interpret numbers, I counted 15 out of 33 aircraft flying, which in my books is comfortably less than half

I know what you said, but couldn't care less about that as I made the original statement on what I counted.

Re: American Air Show 28-29 May
It's worth noting that the Nieuport & two SE5as and Hurricane & two Spitfires will be representing types flown by American airmen in both WW1 and the RAF in WW2, so are related to the American theme in that way. The Buchon and Zero replica will also be playing the enemy in American orientated set peices.
To my mind that leaves just the Pat French and the Dragon Rapide as acts that aren't related to the theme. Let's not be bandying around grave inaccuracies now. Nice going Duxford

On that basis you could argue the Wildcat and Corsair are painted as Royal Navy aircraft, the fennecs are French and you missed the Beaver. Its quite an ordinary line up at present and not bad but nothing special.

Not inspired yet. Don't get me wrong I'm a devout Duxfordodian, and will be there, but even a "Zero Replica" isn't getting my geek-juices flowing. Hopefully a few more inspired additions to go yet. Although in the last couple of years the set pieces have definitely been stepped up in my opinion so if they have something like that up their sleeve I'll be very happy.

But the Wildcat and Corsair are American types which you stated there aren't many of. Ah yes, sorry I did miss the Beaver, so that makes 3 acts on the list posted 2 months earlier than normal that don't relate to the theme.
I'm genuinely interested (and shocked) by how aviation enthusiasts have come to label items such as those currently on that list as "nothing special", especially given the recent stresses Airshows have come under from the proposed CAA fee hikes.
Here's a question then, what would people genuinely want to see, within reason, that would excite them at this show?

Probably a combination of the fact that it's Duxford, so many of the items listed are "expected" and the variety will come from the handful of things that don't appear at all their shows, and because Duxford shows are rarely as good as the sum of their parts. They have their moments, but in general a list of warbirds as per the average show at Dux should be a far more exciting prospect than it is, and without doubt would be if a similar list were assembled at, say, an Old Warden or a Cosby.

For me, it would need to be a Tactical Demo like the USAF did at one of the American Air Days a few years ago. Para-dropping, then Pave Hawks coming in with PJs abseiling from them. Also, a flypast with a KC-135 and 4 F15s or so Add in a CV-22 or two and I'd be a happy bunny
Otherwise, it does look dull in my eyes, but will still go to support Duxford and all that they do

Re: American Air Show 28-29 May
Would be nice to see what Duxford previously suggested as 'contemporary jet aircraft'
As an American Airshow I think we need some LOUD,FAST JETS please
Otherwise this is looking humdrum.
And only 2 P51's, hmm thats a poor showing for an American themed show.
