I live close enough to get the Eastbourne local paper and yes, it is still on.

If you visit http://www.air-shows.org.uk, then go to "calendar", scroll down to the Airbourne dates and you will see a link to the preview with the latest participants. It's a good site and updated regularly.

It's just extraordinary that RAF support for this free seaside show is equal in number but greater in spectacle (Chinook at Eastbourne vs Falcons at Cosford) than for Cosford!

The Mig and Bronco are a nice catch too.

Seriously how can I forget to mention 'the info is from Flightline UK'?! :wall:

Also, the Sea Vixen would secure my attendence! Haven't seen it since Shoreham 2011!

With the King Air display being pulled and the Chinook only down for one day, the modern military element really does need a boost of some sort this year. Thursday is looking very thin at the moment. Maybe the Dutch or the Belgians can oblige.

Will the boats be allowed off the beach as normal and would think reds will not be allowed to enter over the town All manoeuvres would have to be carried out over the sea going by restrictions at FAB so no low level stuff over beachy head.Have to dig out the bigma as display line will be further out from the beach with new regs.

If it's anything like Bournemouth then the boats will be pushed further out to sea so there's no-one directly under displaying aircraft. As for the Reds rear crowd arrival, from what I've seen this year, they are no longer in a tight formation but are stretched much further apart before closing up when over the display area.

I would think it quite likely boats won't be allowed where they normally have been previously, although policing water would offer different challenges to closing roads and naughty fields.
Don't know what to think re the Reds. I thought the FAB restrictions were due to the dense housing around the airfield, which cannot be said of Beachy Head. It's the low level turns over the water around Beachy Head which makes for my favourite shots, so hopefully they will still do those, although there is a danger that they may be further out to sea.

Plus they only ever start their display over the crowd remember, which is the same as a flypast, something they haven't been banned from performing, so I can't see why they couldn't enter overhead still?

Not that many do go but reported on local radio new owner of the pier is not allowing any food or drink to be bought onto the pier, only that bought from pier venders is allowed.
How he is going to stop the many hundreds of family's who go onto the pier with their own grub and drink has not been mentioned as searching bags on entrance will not go down well nor will telling people once they are on the pier to leave.

He's not I don't expect, but just saying it will be enough to make some (foolish? honest?) people not take or eat their own and buy massively inflated hot dogs and "fresh" doughnuts instead, which of course is precisely the reason for the ban.

I guess you could argue it's a bit like taking your own food to a restaurant, especially if there are lots of food outlets on the pier, but it seems daft to me. And like you suggest, when did you last see someone kicked out of somewhere for eating their own food when they weren't meant to? Cinemas are a good example of the same thing.

Sea Vixen has now appeared on the Sunday schedule on the airshow's flying schedule page!

Shame it is not attending on Saturday, as that is the only day I can attend!

Ooh I can guess where I'll aim to be on the Sunday. Beachy Head and the Sea Vixen could be a nice mixture (or, as ever, a dead loss...!)

Five days of industrial action has been called on Southern Rail for 8th - 12th August, therefore will be happening on the Thursday and Friday of Airbourne.
Worth checking nearer the time if you were thinking of coming these two days and if the train is your usual means of getting there.

Thinking of going Eastbourne on the Sunday. Where's a better place to be: Beachy Head or down on the main beach?

It depends on whether you want to watch the aircraft display in front of you, or whether you are after photos of the aircraft with the sea as the background from Beachy Head.

Just to build on that question. I am tempted by the Vampires/ Mig15/ Sea Vixen displays. What is the photography like on the main beach. I use a canon 100-400mm lens. I know it wont give me a full frame but just how has it been in the past. Also doesn't the sun backlight the displays all day ?
Many thanks for any replies or links to photos of previous airshows.

Not all of the aircraft will fly round Beachy Head. I think a few missed out last year on the Vampires and Mig as it didn't really go close enough to Beachy.
You get a decent view on the beach but a better one further to the right where the little green is as its slightly raised. You should be fine with the lens you have. Wouldn't worry too much about the sun , it is August! :-)
