F-35 first time on Dutch soil

Post by Doordelens »

Dear friends,

I am really, really excited. Where to start. Today, at Leeuwarden AFB there have been some "belevingsvluchten" with the new F-35 Lightning II. These flights were mainly for the people living near the airforce base, to get familiar with the new noise. The noise of the F-35 is not the same as the F-16. Well the first few pics of our Dutch pride: the F-35. Although the weather was not that good for nice pics, attached some of my contribution of to-day. (Of course more to follow).

Stunning! :yahoo: Love number 2! I'm probably in the minority when I say that IMO the F35 is a good looking jet!

Is it louder than the F16?

Not that much I would say.

It has a lower tone than the F16.

I think it looks rather nice as well, at least from some angles.

I agree, side on its horrible, looks like a fat fly, from other angles though it looks fantastic, Photo 2 is brilliant! :yahoo:

Thnx

I have to get used to the shape myself.
Some angles I like, some I don't

Agreed - Side on looks very bland and tubular, start rotating around and the aggressive angles and curves start to appear. I think its a great aircraft.

The engineering to achieve that stealthy shape is beauty in itself!
