Andy, did you REALLY write:
Perhaps it is time prices began to rise again, even if it is only to price out this sort of behaviour. A controversial comment it may be, but attitudes need to be changed.

So, only the well-heeled have manners, do they?

Come on Andy, you're better than that. As is UKAR.

It's a suggestion of a possible solution, did not say it was "the" or "the only" or "the correct" solution, and it's acknowledged that it's a controversial one.

So how would you deal with the issue then bearing in mind it should not be up to the FRIAT staff to police the behaviour of members???

They already police the fenceline with the windbreak restrictions.

But, rude people are just that, rude people, they won't change. Short of issuing a "rules of the enclosure" pamphlet on arrival, and users of the enclosure self-policing, you're stuck with them.

Problem is the level of the rudeness or bad behaviour was noticeably higher this year and the potential causes of that should be reviewed. Was it the larger grandstand meaning that certain types of person were able to buy a ticket because some were more available later (that would require a full demographic/economic study, that I really don't have time for) than would usually or, were more able to afford it than usual this year? It's a difficult question to answer.

Just because its a difficult question doesn't mean it should be avoided.

Case in point: a long-haired gentleman on the Thursday, who was politely asked to move by someone on the front row, launched into an agressive tirade at the individual concerned, with such hilarious, agressively spoken lines as (paraphrased) "Where I come from, we don't speak to strangers so rudely" despite him being the one stood over the other FRIAT member agressively. :-X He also thought it appropriate to stand whilst aircraft were landing as he "paid for his seat" and had a right to sit there, regardless of whose views he was blocking. Such individuals should not be allowed back.

Hard to police certainly, I definitely think it should be encouraged that such behaviour is reported so at least a record can be kept of what is going on. Possibly the prevalence of social media is leading a different crowd to try FRIAT - not typical 'enthusiasts' who (9 times out of 10) know the decorum and don't have to be reminded about it.
