Have you ever been to Blackpool without strong winds? I certainly haven't.

That's true but 25mph winds and gusts upto 50mph nothing will fly surely?.

Absolutely gutted about the wind predicted for both Sunday and Monday, for Blackpool !
As has been said allready, what can realistically fly safely at the Airshow maybe the Autogyro !!? I was really looking forwards to seeing the BBMF, and especially seeing the Lancaster displaying, for the first time since the Southport Airshow in 2014 the wind has put paid to that !!! I feel really sorry for the organizers who's months of planning and hard work is ruined !!

Winds are meant to be easing during the day -- today for instance, Accuweather says there were 45mph gusts in Blackpool and rain, this afternoon/evening, there hasn't been a cloud in the sky and it's not been windy at all, was blowing a gale last night.

We all know how "accurate" weather forecasts are, but still let's hope for the best would hate for the journey to go to waste being the only airshow I can get to through the year.

The BBMF are operating from Liverpool Airport, rather than Blackpool Airport, this time for the Blackpool Airshow.

If the weather stays as predicted what would fly if the wind is that strong?.

Well I for one really enjoyed today. Close displays and only gap was the BBMF no show. Thumbs up from me. Hoping Lancaster makes tomorrow.

I really enjoyed it too Eric !! The pilots did a fantastic job, in the strong winds. Although they were clearly struggling i.e. Team Raven, but even they managed some precise maneovers. Was the Chipmunk a no show ? And the Red Arrows closed in fantastic style, with an really exciting routine an excellent Free Airshow in my opinion ! It was inevitable that the BBMF wouldn't be able to display today, certainly not safely in winds that strong ! I especially loved the Typhoon noisy and close at times, hopefully the BBMF will be able to make it tomorrow )) I am really looking forwards to the Airshow tomorrow, especially for the BBMF fingers crossed, and the Global Stars Team.

I'll be honest, it wasn't the greatest of line ups the show had seen prior to the day itself anyway, but decided to take my young lad anyway today for a day out.

My main attraction for me was the Typhoon, which was fantastic as usual, and for my lad it was the Red Arrows, who delivered yet again.

In between, despite a long gap at one point, mainly due to the BBMF withdrawal, it was clear to see that the wind was going to prove a major factor - and obstacle - for many of the displays today. The fact that they still displayed was a testimony to them.

One extra bit of praise to add to Eddy's above, was for the Wingwalkers - god only knows what that must have felt like up there on the wings, but professional as ever they put on a great display for the crowd.

I was expecting to see the acts a bit further out than usual, but it certainly didn't seem that way if that was supposed to be the case.

Great blue skies for the afternoon, to go with the wind tunnel!

Thanks Blackpool, see you again next year.
