Oshkosh 2016 (UPDATED - Night Show, Seaplanes, Snowbirds)
Managed to get to Oshkosh for 3 1/2 days last week, lots of photos to sort through so will keep adding to this thread.
Arrived on Thursday lunchtime, just in time to get rained on, but also just in time to see this pair depart:

Thanks for your comments, glad your liking the photos. Second batch of photos. With daily airshows I got to see the US Navy Super Hornet Demo 3 times, in varying weather (cloudy, evening, bright sun) was a very impressive display, enhanced by good commentary and real time contact from the pilot.
There were also a host of other Hornets in attendance:

Variety indeed. Some beasts on show there! Super set, thanks for posting
Re: Oshkosh 2016 (UPDATED - Mars, U-2, Hornets and Phantoms)
An excellent set of images. Please keep 'em coming.
There were some nice types present at this year's convention that were missing when I attended
in 2013 and 2015. I would have loved to see the P-39. P-47, C-126 and the C-46 and, of course,
the Martin Mars.
Thanks for sharing.

Have to say I'm not a fan of that yellow Jayhawk, thank goodness they're not all painted like that!!

Funny really, I was thinking entirely the opposite, I think the retro Jayhawk looks really smart. I wouldn't want the fleet to change as they're great anyway.
Some great stuff at the show this year, please keep posting, even though my envy level is rising by the day.

Re: Oshkosh 2016 (UPDATED - Snowbirds)
Was very impressed with the Snowbirds display, very tight formations, good solo/pairs moves and some very original formations and maneuvers.
Maybe more impressive than all that though was their response to a technical issue during Friday's display. After a pause to allow the malfunctioning aircraft land the team resumed their display, other than a few asymmetric formations you wouldn't have known there had been anything missing.
But in what was a first for a display i've witnessed, the pilot of the u/s aircraft took off in the spare jet and rejoined the team as they finished off the display with a full compliment. A great advert for the team and their country. Very different to the responses i've witnessed from some high profile European teams.
Anyway, on with the photos:

I've seen the Angels do this twice and the Thuds once, very impressive stuff- they were on the deck and airborne again within 5 minutes. I love the Snowbirds a really nice, close, flowing display from some pretty docile jets.
Another cracking update, yet another for that bottomless bucket list- seriously tempted for next year given the USAFs 100th or whatever
Great stuff - more please!!

What a cracking set. Looks like a great experience all round - aviation heaven.
Re: Oshkosh 2016 (UPDATED - Night Show, Seaplanes, Snowbirds
The Jet Waco has to be seen to be believed. Jimmy Franklin flew one before he was killed in his by flying into the smoke from the shockwave truck, and hitting another aircraft that was in the act. Amazing the way the Waco climbed vertically with the underslung jet engine pushing her up. Always surprised that the aircraft managed to stay in one piece! Of course ultimately it didn't, but that was down to pilot error.
