I think the last show was a financial disaster for all concerned with nothing like the expected spectator numbers. On the strength of that plans for future shows were scrapped I believe.

Pretty cheeky that neither the Herne Bay site nor the Navy Wings schedule detail the Sea Vixen's appearance as being a flypast only.

Is it confirmed that that is all it is? Mind you a fly past is better than not seeing at all!!

Yup, confirmed by Navy Wings on Facebook as a flypast only.

But you said just above the Navy Wings schedule did NOT state it was only a fly past  .....

Good to see the utter confusion of the various Sea Vixen Facebook pages continues!

Sounds as though ass and elbow are featuring loud and clear!! Best wait until they sort out which information channel is authoritative!! For the many who don't use FB perhaps the website might be the best medium!!

Always possible it might get upgraded from flypast to display. *Fingers Crossed*

Last year's Vulcan appearance was originally billed as a flypast only, then upgraded to a display when some more money was forthcoming from sponsors.

Quite so. But since the Sea Vixen information is confusing and contradictory anything is possible!!

I think you're confused Mr Rapide. The Sea Vixen's appearance is flypast only - neither the Herne Bay site or the Fly Navy schedule detail this which is cheeky!

Not me! For Navy Wings FB it's a flypast but for the Sea Vixen FB it's a display! Someone needs to confirm which information is authoritative. Over to you!

You are facing North with sun behind you for most of the display. So aircraft against cloudless blue or bright broken cloud. Perfect!!

Strange that this seems to have a better line up than Eastbourne and Bournemouth! Hard work of the event organisers no doubt. I'll be cycling from Reculver/Whitstable- is parking good at these locations?

Reculver only has one smallish car park but I doubt would be full early on in the morning. Whitstable is packed with visitors throughout the Summer especially weekends and parking is a lottery and not cheap. Best try along the Slopes or adjoining streets at Tankerton where you might find a space early on. Good luck - weather looks perfect.

I'd follow the organisers' advice and come by train, except on Sunday its only an hourly service. If the London-bound train is going to be mobbed as the display finishes, I'll drive and park near Whitstable and walk in, as its a nice route both ways. How bad was traffic and public transport last year?

Hi - having never been to Herne Bay airshow, although have mother in law there so hoping to get a combined visit :-), do you know which way the aircraft run in W-E or E-W? I'm looking to avoid being down in the crowd at the pier and watch from 800m east of the pier at the end of Central Parade. Will aircraft have turned off by then or still run straight past? I'm not looking for perfect photo ops this time (although do fancy trying to get a shot of the Barnes Wallis statue in the foreground, with the lanc behind.
Thanks

Not sure if it's each display but usually E-W. Last year was packed but I cycled to Hampton locked the bike to the railings and walked in. If you are coming any distance trains are the best option or park around Tankerton and walk in.
