Happy New Year everybody!
I would like to kick off 2017 in style with a set of some classic jets from the eighties. This set covers the TLP - Tactical Leadership Programme - at Jever Air Base in north-western Germany in the mid-eighties. For a good part of nine years this training programme was stationed here to teach 2 & 4 ATAF aircrews in the art of package leading, bringing together more or less all fast jet types that 2 & 4 ATAF had to offer at that time. Starfighters, Phantoms, Lightnings, Buccaneers, Mirages, Warthogs… you name it, they had it - simply stunning not only from today´s point of view. In eight courses per year (later it was reduced to six) lasting four weeks, each course included 15 missions with mixed packages of fighters operating on local missions.
This is not an attempt at covering the full spectrum of participants of nine years of TLP at Jever, but rather a colourful flash from the past. Please excuse the poor image quality in most of the pics, but these photos represent my very first achievements in aircraft photography. Mostly ISO 200 negatives, the pics a very grainy and many of them have lots of scratches and dust, requiring sometimes tedious Photoshopping to bring them back to this condition. So don´t look at the image quality but at the jets, they are truly great!! Enjoy!

What a great (nostalgic) selection. Too many gone too soon.....

Great pictures of some great aircraft. Thanks for posting.
Re: TLP @ JEVER 1980s
Marvellous post Chris! The quality of the subjects far outweighs any lack of image quality
Re: TLP @ JEVER 1980s
Great days indeed - so many NATO exercises, meets, exchanges and jollies back then! Jever looked a good location.

The Jaguar T2 (from 6 Squadron) in camouflage looks the absolute bee's knee's!

Re: TLP @ JEVER 1980s
What a great post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a small remark though.
314 sqdr. from the Royal Netherlands AF was based at Eindhoven AB and not at
Gilze-Rijen AB.
Gilze-Rijen hosted an other NF-5A/B sqdr that was 316 sqdr.
cheers,
Roel

Re: TLP @ JEVER 1980s
Many thanks for all your comments!
On popular demand here are a few more from that era, mostly types already covered above but definitely worth showing!
@ Roel: yes, of course, 314.Sqn at Eindhoven and 316. at Gilze! Sorry, I mixed it up. I remember visiting Eindhoven in August 1986 when Turkish F-5s were on rotation. That was cool, too!

#33 F-4F 38+14 JaBoG 35 Pferdsfeld (TLP86-4):
#34 Jaguar GR.1 XX970(EH) No.6Sqn RAF Coltishall (TLP86-4):
#35 the same jet some 45 minutes later landing back at Jever:
#36 OV-10A 67-14674 601st TCW Sembach AB (TLP84-3). This must have been the only TLP course where Broncos took part. Probably in some FAC(Forward Air Controller) role. It was the only aircraft from that course that I managed to photograph because of a last-minute RWY change…I had no scanner at that time…
#37 Mirage 5BA BA-21 2.WTac, 2.Smaldeel Florennes (TLP86-3):
Cheers, Chris

Remember a Bronco at Jever in1982, when I was there with a joint 111/43 F Sqn course. Cant remember the exact date, but it was around the 25th May 1982. As the Jaguar got bitten whilst we were on the course. 526 TFS were also on the same course with us.
