Kecskemét 30 and 31/7/2016

Post by aviodromefriend »

For those that need to book their holidays way in advance: http://www.repulonap2016.hu/default.aspx?lang=en is giving these dates for next year's Kecskemét. For those that normally don't venture into the continent: This is one of the shows that have challenged RIAT for the claim of best airshow.

I'm sorry to inform you that the 2016 Kecskemét Air Show has been officially cancelled.
According to the Hungarian MoD, the country's armed forces had to undertake a number of new duties, leaving no resoruces for the air show.

Oh right, the people escaping war. I see.

I doubt that's why.

I think the truth is somewhere in between.

HuAF lost two Gripens last year, including one of only two two-seaters + one Yak-52.
However, I think the main reason is the fence we built on our border with Serbia, which took a lot of money.

Ah, euphemism 4tw. :heyhey: Well, I would say if I'm thirsty, I'd stop at the first fountain possible, so it is hard to believe they still escape war in Turkey or Greece, but their target is Sweden, Denmark, Germany... But that's only me, I know! Maybe those people wouldn't be on their way anyhow, if some countries in world (guess which ones!) stop rocking the boat for a while...

Money is everything, and the fence as well as it's surveillance is expensive for sure, not to mention the cost of dealing with several hundred thousand refugees... But I assume such costs are not known in the UK - ( how many refugees are in the UK atm? As I love people telling us how great it is to have them here, but always refuse to take some of those kind people...) - the only support of UK is even more bombs AFAIK...

If countries like the UK & US wouldn't have sent bombs only to Iraq, Syria and so on in the past, we maybe could have had an airshow in Kecskemet in 2016. But how Borat said: "We support your war of terror!"

In the past the main part was always foreign aircraft displays, mixed up with the local HUAF displays. I doubt they would cancel it because of the loss of 2-3 aircraft, I think they just have to safe money (fuel, flying hours and so on).

Anyhow, no matter what caused the cancellation at last, it is a sad decision, but has to be respected. Better luck next time!

Eizo - you need to be corrected even though it is OT. This is not about whether it is right or wrong or enough or anything political but;

the UK was the second largest overseas aid donor out of the 29 OECD Development Assistance Committee members in 2013. The USA was the largest.

The Uk has spent 900m pounds on helping refugees who have fled Syria since the war began.
The money has been spent on basic supplies like running water, food, medicine and shelter.

The UK support is not just more bombs as you put it.

And I would say if I was thirsty and had the choice between a fountain with clean water and one where I'm going to be persecuted and abused and put in a camp for drinking from, I know which I'd choose.

But the fountains in Turkey and Greece are very clean to drink from.....................just look at the state of it today, people trying to 'escape' from a major tourist destination (Greece)............

Some heads-up: no Kecsekemét airshow scheduled for 2017 either.
