Duxford January Bimbles ~ *UPDATE 4~17Jan17*
As the Museum likes to get aircraft movements out of the way before the Public are let loose inside, some over the fence shots in far from ideal lighting conditions of the Britannia on its Bimble from Airliner Row to AirSpace where it will be tucked up nice and warm for the next couple of weeks while it has a bit of paint applied. In the order taken.

I could well be wrong, but don't remember the flaps being down on airliner row. Were they lowered for the move?
As usual, great pictures documenting life at Duxford Brian.

Beautiful wall to wall blue sky and sunshine day but woolly hats and gloves were still required. The Fighter Collection provided the entertainment with both their P-40C & F having engine runs and thanks to TFC for parking them on the Jet Pan for easy photographic access. During the engine runs I got my first proper sight, since its arrival, of the bright yellow ex Boscombe Down/QinetiQ Harvard which made a brief appearance in the sunshine as the camouflaged T-28 was extracted from Hangar 2 which went flying later in the afternoon after I had left. In the order taken.

The P-40F was really meant to wear that desert scheme.

Re: Duxford January Bimbles ~ *UPDATE 2~07Jan17*
Had intended spending Saturday in London but by the time I got to Cambridge rail station the weather, mist and mizzle, had descended and a check on my weather app showed the same for London so I went to Duxford instead. Took the opportunity to wander around the hangars getting in some hand held/manual focus/very low shutter speed practice so a few photos of some aircraft not normally covered on my Bimbles around Duxford. Despite the naff weather, a lot of visitors visiting and the mist and mizzle did lift by mid afternoon. In the order taken and all at 1/2 second with apertures and ISO adjusted for that speed.

Excellent results for HH at 1/2 second. Is the Anson airworthy?
Plenty of blue skies down here in Australia, Brian.

I much prefer my sunny skies at the temperature that we enjoyed today; 25C, with the same forecast for tomorrow.
Thanks for the info. about the Anson.

Re: Duxford January Bimbles ~ *UPDATE 3~10Jan17*
Don't normally carry a long lens with me during the winter months as it's very quiet, war bird flying wise, at Duxford until about the start of the air show season. If the last two weeks are anything to go by I think I should start packing one sooner rather than later. The Fighter Collection P-40F went for its first flight since the end of 2015 with a spot of aerobatics over the airfield after its handling flight and the T-28 went up for a short flight . The Classic Wings Harvard 'Wacky Wabbit' returned after its winter break. There were also reports that some Brass Monkeys were seen heading south for some warmer weather. In the order taken.

Re: Duxford January Bimbles ~ *UPDATE 4~17Jan17*
First thing I noticed when the museum opened was that the Monarch Britannia was back in Airliner Row after its repaint in AirSpace. Amongst the GA visitors was a Swiss registered PC-12 that parked up at 11.30 and took off just gone two o'clock in the afternoon with a practice aborted take off and once airbourne swung around and came back for a practice approach from the other direction and climbed out to return to Biggin Hill. T-28 Fennec/N14113/'Little Rascal' was up and about several times this afternoon with what looked like final flights for some of the syndicate that owned it. In the late afternoon the T-28 departed Duxford, having arrived 20 years earlier in 1997, for the Channel islands where it would be collected by its new owner for onward delivery to its new home in France. Despite the blue sky and sunshine, there was high cloud and haze diffusing the light and when the PC-12 left, the outside temperature was a warm +4C. In the order taken.

Didn't realise the T-28 was leaving the UK, lovely aircraft and I agree an under rated one.

Agree especially when it was up with the silver one as a double act.
