My 2016 RDAF F-16s - including air-to-air

Post by SorenAugustesen »

During 2016 I was lucky enough to work with the RDAF F-16s on a number of occasions. In the beginning of the year, I lost my job, and while that did suck, it gave me plenty of time over the spring and summer to photograph aircraft, while looking for a new job

I decided to head down to FW Skydstrup to get some F-16s, but I didn't want to just get plain side on takeoffs and landings, but with a bit of persuasion, they agreed to keep it low and fast as the crossed the fence on takeoff - and they did indeed do just that:

And the landings weren't bad either:

The highlight of the year with the Danish F-16s came during a tanker flight with the 100th ARW out of RAF Mildenhall, with the purpose to get some air-to-air images of the Danish F-16, and despite some last minute cancellations - and then a cancellation of that cancellation, it turned out to be a great flight:

To round off the year, I had a small night photography session during one of the last days of the night flying period, and I think I got a few keepers despite not having much experience with night photography

Hope you enjoy them C&C welcome

Bit of a soft spot for the Danish F-16s...
As said, the first one is a cracking shot, as is the first of the nightshots!

Agree shot 1 is great, but for me shot No. 3 is the one for me. Awesome!

 Nos.1, 3, 18 & 19 are outstanding! I assume take-offs are at Skrydstrup from RWY11R? Taken from in- or outside of the fence?
I am sure the air-to-airs could get even better with a touch of photoshopping.
Mange tak for showing

Thanks for the kind comments.

@BigClick67: I'm sure they could all be improved by some Photoshopping, but I am not a great Photoshopper  I do some basic adjustments in Lightroom, but no layers or masks in Photoshop.

The takeoff shots were all taken outside the fence, when the aircrafts used runway 10L (The main runway).

Certainly a fine set of images, indeed the take off views are sublime and given how tricky tanker aar pics are to take another well done.
