Cosford TLE January night-shoot

Post by wallace »

Photos from the Monday evening TLE night-shoot at Cosford.

Thanks to Neil, the RAF and the rest of the TLE crew for this event.

A rather unloved Jet Provost, with a lot of hangar rash

I loaned my tripod out to a friend who suffered a tripod malfunction, so I tried my hand a free-hold zoom blur. I shot this one to death last November.

Unusual presentation of the serial, the M number is here on some Jags.

Neil walked through my shot. We both had a laugh and I reshot it but this one had more character.

They dragged this one out of the pens behind hangar 2, the light was going by this stage so the ISO got cranked up.

I love this one to bits. Just a pity that I could not get some detail shots of the various bits and pieces.

The RAF crew, doing what they do best, milling around waiting to go home. Thanks guys, we appreciated you giving up your time to help.

What did you think for the price paid, bit long, actors got in the way etc?

Now Smithers, you've failed the walkround, as you missed to spot this aircraft has no exhausts and therefore we won't be flying today. And will you stop leaning on the bloody pitot, you can't be that tired already!

Twelve aircraft for £65 plus a meal as well, very good value for money.
It was a bit long but then again I had quite a bit of back pain and I had to sit a lot of it out. (I would have left an hour earlier if I could.)
The enactors, one was green and didn't know the score. Generally I don't bother with the enactors much and have given up with the set pieces as basically everyone gets the same picture more or less.

Bottom line, done Cosford twice and I'll don't see myself doing another. In saying that it was a good night well, organised with a good selection of aircraft to photograph. The only negative point was too many photographers in such a small space.

I went and enjoyed the experience, though my results were pants to be honest, but that's through my lack of photography skills!
I do agree with Rob above in that it was a little crowded at times when a particular scene was set up with people trying to get the best angles etc.
