NOAA Orion at Shannon
NOAA Orion at Shannon
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) deployed one of their P-3's to Shannon in early January for a few weeks investigating Atlantic storms. N42RF is a WP-3D Orion that recently returned to service after 19 months of maintenance and upgrades including a new colour scheme. Although only flying a few times a week I was lucky to catch some movement today.
All the best

What a great machine.
Thanks for sharing those.
I never expected to see that aircraft this side of the pond!
Am I jealous? Absolutely.

Re: NOAA Orion at Shannon
Caught this many years ago with a Gulfie operating as well. Nice new shiney scheme too boot. Did not even know it was operating from Shannon. Bit out of touch these days.
Great shots as well. Do you know if she there for much longer?

Superb ....thanks for posting
Re: NOAA Orion at Shannon
Many thanks for all the kind responses, glad you like the pics.
The aircraft arrived on the 20th January for a rumoured 3 to 4 weeks and is still present as of today (7th Feb) although may not be around for much longer. It has been flying about every 2-3 days a week at unpredictable times of day and spends the rest of the time parked in the middle of the airfield where a very long lense is required!
