'Ridiculous Regulations'....I think not!
It is a fact of life & a matter of deaths that the non-enthusiast & even hard-core 'forumites' expect tangible changes to be implemented post-Shoreham.
There will always be dissenters who can only see bad in all change! IMHO one can never legislate to prevent all risk. In addressing the Shoreham-factor another plethora of risk is potentially unleashed. In time we will sadly see that "fate is a cruel mistress indeed"?
Don't worry about the sun, it's rarely a factor at Abingdon. Just be grateful the team persevere to bring us this event & support an excellent cause?
PS:- Wot?... no tank hills & mud, now that's a proper problem!

One more loud thing from RAF and it's enough. Also, hope to see more of WWII planes. :cuppa:

In that case, maybe it's better if day is cloudy. Without rain of course.

I enjoyed seeing the Boomerang at Jersey but then was disappointed to find out its a replica, of course nobody seems to mention that!

Best idea is that you position yourself next to the First Aid tent if you go to Abingdon this year. That way, help will be on-hand for your breathing difficulties & heart-attack!
"Now listen-out, this is no Drill. The Great War Display Team with 9 x assorted replicas will also be there!"

Update: The static RAF Chinook at the moment 'unable to support' I was told by JHC last week, however gained an RAF Tucano from Linton on Ouse for static.

Should start hearing alittle more over the next 4 weeks on the remaining military assets I requested for back last September so hopeful of alittle more yet.

Flying update - the following are displaying;

Sea Vixen
Great War Display Team
Wasp
Swip Team
Muscle Pitts
Antonov AN2
Autogyro
CAC Boomerang
Breitling Wingwalker x1
BBMF Spitfire, Hurricane (not hopeful of Lancaster again as it stands as behind schedule).
Historic Army Flight Sioux & Scout
T28 Fennec (US Air Force colours)
Pitts Special (Andy Gents & totally different to Muscle Pitts)
P51 Mustang
RF4 Motorglider
Jump4Heroes Parachute Display Team (dropping from a second Antonov AN2).

As mentioned above still hopeful of within military assets a flypast by something from RAF Brize Norton

Apart from Sea Vixen & BBMF, all with operate out of Abingdon.

45 general aviation types to fly in too, including a mk26B Spitfire, another Stearman and RN coloured 'Sharks' Gazelle

Believe it or not, there are times when I would like to be completely wrong about everything!....
From Oldtower's post above BBMF Spitfire, Hurricane (not hopeful of Lancaster again as it stands as behind schedule).

From my historic post & predictable Crystal Ball activity ...

pb643 wrote: Next Major due this coming winter I think you will find. It looks as though they have a busy week planned with the Lancaster, also Lancaster and fighters. Local forecast for once is good, with the exception of possible thunderstorms. I wonder if they are pulling out all the stops to get the PDA done before the weekend?

Stagger2 wrote: Precisely!... & do we expect a severely curtailed Flying Season (all events included!) for the 3rd rear running? Better in my opinion to have started the Major overhaul now & guaranteed a full season for 2017 starting with an April 2017 PDA.
Stay lucky with the rest Abingdon Team, see you there, come rain or snow!
For the avoidance of doubt, I do appreciate the iconic value of this airframe & welcome every opportunity to see it fly, but I do wish the Schedulers would take a more pragmatic view to ensure this treasure is available for the larger 2017 events in good time, allowing for the unforeseen glitches that occur with the necessary ultra-careful operation of the Lancaster.

Jeez! Even with the Abingdon event moved back the Lancaster appearance is in question?? Abingdon may not be a 'larger' event, but it's one of very few with display content remaining in the UK. With the pressure on the organisation & affordability uppermost in Air-show event planning these days, this is an iconic item to be 'missing' from the starting line-up. I can live with serviceability issues on the day, but this is just PPP. on the Servicing front!! (think...Not good planning  )
Stay lucky 'Team Abingdon'. See you there come rain or snow!

Regardless of whether the Lancaster appears or not I'll be attending. I love the atmosphere of Abingdon and will always support the show.

Being the Main organiser, yes I can :) Details will be up soonish via facebook show pages / twitter and website on how to apply but will be limited places so first come first served. I hope to have around at least 8 - 10 aircraft for the Nightshoot and weather permitting again Hot Air Balloons glow as was very successful last year.

Static addition TBC - RAF 32Sqn Agusta 109

Thanks for the info. I really enjoyed last year and I've been invited to a party on the 13th. I just need the "sorry I have an Abingdon ticket" excuse.

Organisers tweeted today that the Boomerang has cancelled.

On the upside, a Yak-3 and static C-130 pencilled. A static Herk will have a massive amount of presence at the venue!
