Indian MiG-21 colour help

Post by Niallxg »

hi

Currently building a MiG-21bis 1/48 in Indian AF scheme for Italeri.

My question concerns the correct colour for the underside of the wings/fuselage.

The instructions indicate Pale Blue (FS25526) while Eduard's instructions indicate FS24277/H337 - however FS24277 seems to be a dark greyish green while H337 is a greyish blue appears dark and seems to correspond to FS35237. Elsewhere I have also seen a reference to using Tamiya XF-23 light blue for the undersides of some MiG-21s.

Anyone know the correct colour call out - ideally in either Tamiya or Vallejo.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure if this helps but one of the HAD decals sheets for Mig 21's has an Indian one on there and it calls for Gunze H337 or Humbrol 65.

According to a couple of conversion charts I've checked this equates to Tamiya XF23 or Vallejo 70.972. Basically a similar blue as used on Bf-109's etc.

That's excellently what I was looking for.

Thanks very much. Going with the XF23.

Hopefully I'll do the model justice and I'll post it up here when its finished.
