Key East

Post by Dr Cake »

Only one rule for this thread - tyre(s) and these very familiar keys must be in contact. No 'nearly in contact' or 'visible underneath whilst landing' if you don't mind.

Here's a few from me:

Nice idea, be interesting to see how many types we can tick off from over the years. Here's a bunch from me from 2010 to 2015., i think in the majority the nosewheel is at least touching the keys...

Glad to see that I have the only fixed wing landing shot so far....

Also, only just noticed that the Hungarians were flying our flag upside down on arrival.

If I've got any they're definitely not in the 'decent' category so won't be retaliating....

Just having a look through this lot and some lovely imagery already. Whilst I simply don't have the time to look/scan, anyone got any pre-digital stuff?

Thanks for participating,

Not quite pre-digital, Herr Doktor Cake, but pre-DSLR (2004, when I was still on my dig-compact - all I could afford at the time):

Here's a few more which I uncovered after a good trawl through the GD archives:

I don't recall there being any stipulation that the aircraft had to be under its own power so I'm claiming this one as legit...

Very nice. Of course I'm way too young to remember anything like that Ralph

Remember these well though!

Hundreds more, will add a few in due course.

What struck me in looking at these pics is the level of variety that Fairford's keys have seen, surely must hold some form of record in terms of aircraft types for any one airfield/base to have had ?
