Barksdale AFB Open house Updated with more pictures
Just a sneak 3 picture peak at where I was just last weekend. I was able to attend the Barksdale AFB open house for 2017. The main draw this year being "Doc" the second B-29 on the circuit and even better a "Boeing" flypast consisting of the B-17, B-29 and the B-52! So before I go on rambling yet again.. Here are 3 pictures I chose for now. I just got home and need to catch up on some seriously needed sleep. I'll edit and post the rest on the weekend.

Wow, first a B-29, then a Me262 and then to top it off - that formation - very nice
Re: Barksdale AFB Open house sneak peek. 3 shots for now...
Incredible formation. Great shooting Rod.
Re: Barksdale AFB Open house sneak peek. 3 shots for now...
Fabulous stuff ! I'm not a fan of Doc's over polished finish but what a sight and sensational to have two Superforts flying! That formation is unreal, if anything spoilt a bit by the North American interloper! Can't recall a shot of the 3 fortresses together ever ?? Look forward to seeing more
You caaan't trust the system... Maaan!

Maybe the B25 was there as a camera ship? looks fantastic nonetheless

Shot number one. Note to BBMF, it IS possible to display a heavy bomber's topside to the crowd...
And the formation too - were that the BBMF, you'd have each aircraft five miles apart...

The angle is deceiving, other angles suggest the formation were flying at a distance common for the BBMF's larger formation flights (eg Lincs Lancs flypasts)
Love the first shot btw Rod

A brilliant teaser in super-clear skies. Looking forward to the rest!
'Me-262' doesn't compare with the single seater for looks, but makes for easier financial operation by flying pax?
I'm not an airspeed font of knowledge, but I'm fairly sure the B-52 would be overtaking behind the WWII bombers in the foreground, even given the 'barn-door' flap area deployed!
Great shot & timing either way with #3

Amazing, that fly past is something else. Doc looks stunning too.... oh to have that at RIAT.

Re: Barksdale AFB Open house sneak peek. 3 shots for now...
Happy weekend everyone! Sorry for the late reply to this thread as I have had some serious computer issues last week! Many many thanks for the comments! The show being small and having the sun run right down the centre of the runway most of the day was a bit of a letdown.... But the short flying display as you can see included a few formations we may not see again. Saturday even included a "Global Air power" formation which was a B-1B,B-2 and a B-52 and shortly as that formation passed we had a single pass of a E-4! Sunday for some reason all we had was a B-52 and B-1B... Ahh well here are few more from the show. Again a short display as the show started at 11am and ended by 3:30 with the Blue Angles, heat haze and position of the sun made some photography difficult... But the show was worth every penny spent travelling there!
On with the pictures... The odd ball sizes are from my Samsung Note 4 and I threw in a few shots I took at Ellington Field in Houston before flying home.

Wow!!!! Can't really add any more than that.

A knockout!
Despite the difficult lighting conditions that you describe, you've recorded some amazing images. Nice work, Rod.

That E-4B was really a sight to see. Sad that it didn't return on the Sunday.
Great set.
