Wales National Airshow 2017

First confirmation on the year for it.
Not a surprise that it's RAFAT.

All aircraft are based elsewhere and transit to the show from wherever they are based and depart either to their base or the next show on their schedule. It's impossible to have a static aircraft display as the show is a seafront show like Eastbourne, Clacton, Bournemouth etc.

I went a couple of years ago and it was actually quite good (and free!) despite the weather, which virtually curtailed the second day entirely. There can be quite long gaps between items but, if you have a young family with you, there is plenty to keep them entertained as all the services have big set ups with vehicles etc to clamber on. It gets VERY busy like a lot of seafront shows.

Cheers I should have realised it was a sea front showthat there would be no static. I might make the journey down and tie it in with visiting family in kenfig hill. It'll be a new venue for me. Not many I ain't done but this is one of them.

Depends.
They've had a static of sorts in previous years -- Grob Tutor & Chinook spring to mind, plus I think they had a RAFAT Hawk.
Not what you'd call a proper static, though.

Given that they're on the same weekend, most of the stuff Swansea books also displays at Yeovilton ( although you do get the occasional act which doesn't )

The RAFAT Hawk is their promotional (plastic?) one that is taken to shows and the Chinook is a plastic recruiting thing that isn't full size. Grob Tutor might be a real one though.

That's probably stuffed a lot of the potential display items, then.

Also doesn't help that Chalke Valley, Goodwood Festival of Speed, Blackbushe 75, Shuttleworth Military Pageant are all on the same weekend although admittedly some of those don't have a large flying element to the shows.

And the latest addition announced today is........yep, you've guessed.....the BBMF !! :win:
Interestingly, it hints at it being the Lanc., a Spitfire & a Hurricane.......if that's correct, Swansea's getting a BBMF aircraft which RIAT isn't.

Go on....you'd love an autogyro display at RIAT, wouldn't you ( at least it's bigger than a Scan Eagle )

Full list of currently confirmed aircraft...

The Red Arrows
Typhoon Eurofighter
The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight
Tigers Parachute Display Team
Gyro Air Displays Team
The Bristol Blenheim
Chinook
Team Raven
MiG
Pitts Special
Strikemaster
RAF Tutor

Sea Vixen's no longer listed ( no surprise there ) but the MiG 15 is back ( unless they've got a different MiG !! )

Edited to add....
Another addition to that list, but no individual confirmation -- 'Vampire Blue'
No, I haven't got a clue what it is, other than presumably a DH Vampire.

During the Airshow the main seafront road will be blocked off this year by trucks as advised by counter-terrorist police.
They are advising people to pre-book parking places.

Not a surprise given that they've already increased the security precautions at a number of other events in Wales.
And they've got lots of barriers & bollards going spare after the recent Champions League event in Cardiff.

"Vampire Blue" is the Norweigian Vampire pair, confirmed on their Facebook page. A nice addition to replace the Sea Vixen. Gutted about that as I've never seen one fly but I think they've booked a decent show from what was realistically available.

The Mig will fly Saturday only so I assume the Vampires will be Sunday only but still no confirmation of this.

Vampires are in fact confirmed for both days. One T55 and one single seat.
