A look down at Bray 2017 - more photos added
While certainly not on a par in terms of size with the majority of shows across Europe, the annual Bray Airshow, situated just south of Dublin, has continued to grow from strength to strength. Being a seaside event, the aircraft attending operate from Baldonnel (IAC, Viggen, Vampires and MiG-15), Dublin (Spanish Hornet and Aer Lingus A321) and Weston for everything else. But what makes Bray special from a photographic perspective is the 243m high Bray Head, located at the southern end of the village. Positioning one's self at the top of the hill allows for some panoramic shots - sadly due to recent changes in airshow safety regulations a lot of aircraft are kept further out in the bay and flying over Bray Head (just ask the Swiss in 2015) is sadly a thing of the past.
This year's show took place on 23/24 July - the Saturday being essentially a practice day. These shots are from the Sunday. The sun came out right before the flying started, although we did have to contend with some sea mist/fog for about 15mins at the start - right when the Spitfire/Seafire displayed.
Anyway enough of the intro, on with the shots. Hope they are of interest, comments etc welcomed.

Finally some shots from Weston, first of the Catalina leaving Weston on Saturday to attend the Foynes Airshow before returning to display at Bray and then second from a dull Sunday morning of the "Aer Lingus" Dak.

For a seaside show it does well to pull in some unusual displays. Off the top of my head only really Jersey can compare.
Loving shot 16!

Thanks lads.
Red Dragon, I'm surprised you didn't see the Jordanian Falcons display on the Saturday - they seemed to be out into the middle of the Irish Sea.

Excellent stuff. The Viggen is superbly caught and that Hornet warping the air is very good indeed.

Thanks for all the comments.
Here's a few more shots from the weekend of the locals.
For many, myself included, the A321 put on the best display.

PC-9M display, which for Saturday's practice was led by the latest addition to the fleet, 269 - easily identifiable from its clean underside.

Great stuff. I too love that Viggen shot. Never seen that Magister team (can just remember the PdF having them) - would love to see them. Might have to climb that hill sometime.

Cheers lads.
It's well worth the climb John, we even had a pop up Polish disco on the hill this year

Great set, had no idea there was a Magister formation team in France!

Cheers for the nice comments.
The Fouga's were in attendance last year too, and long may they continue.
In reference to past shows - in the pre Shoreham days it was fine to fly over Bray Head as this Pat Suisse from 2015 illustrates

wow that F-5 is close and rather spectacular.. those were the days.
The Magister team is called La Patrouille Trenchant. They've been around for a few years but assuming the rules regarding civi jet aerobatics remain the same we won't get to see them in the UK.
